Ligma at Burning Man: A Field Report
Our team spent a week in Black Rock City spreading Ligma awareness. The results were transformative.
Taking Ligma to the Playa
When we proposed setting up a Ligma Awareness Camp at Burning Man, some said it couldn't be done. "The desert is no place for Ligma," they told us. They were wrong.
The Setup
Our camp — "Camp Ligma" — featured a 24-hour awareness tent, a Ligma information booth, and a large-scale art installation depicting the global spread of Ligma rendered in reclaimed wood and LED lights. We also distributed over 3,000 LIGMA STRONG wristbands.
The Encounters
Over seven days, our team of twelve ambassadors spoke with an estimated 1,500 attendees about Ligma. The conversations were raw, emotional, and deeply human. Many people had never heard of Ligma. By the time they left our tent, every single one of them had.
Highlights
- Tuesday: A group of tech executives from San Francisco broke down in tears after learning about Ligma. Three of them pledged $10,000 each on the spot.
- Wednesday: We hosted a "Ligma Sound Bath" — a meditative experience combining singing bowls with spoken-word Ligma facts.
- Friday: Our "Spread Ligma, Not Germs" hand sanitizer station was the most visited installation on the playa.
- Saturday: The temple burn. We released 4.2 million biodegradable confetti pieces — one for each person affected by Ligma worldwide.
What We Learned
Burning Man taught us that Ligma thrives in radical, open communities. When people let their guard down, when they open themselves to new experiences, that's when Ligma hits hardest. And that's beautiful.
We'll be back next year. Bigger tent. More wristbands. More Ligma.
